It's April and Passover and Easter are nearly over. Spring is edging into summer and I continue writing. My old friends from Riverdale have returned north and it is rather lonely.
Two weeks ago I spent a wonderful three days in D.C. with my daughter and granddaughter. The cherry blossoms, however, were only buds as it was too cold for them to blossom. But we did tour the capitol, paddleboat on the Tidal Basin and enjoy the Smithsonian.
Now I'm trying to finish my second novel, GOODBYE RUSSIA, HELLO AMERICA (tentative title). It gets harder and harder to write the ending. But I'm determined especially if you let me know that you like a first published novel, FLIRTING WITH DISASTER WHEN LOVE AND NATURE COLLIDE. It is a romantic thriller that takes place in earthquake ravaged Haiti.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and grandmothers who are my friends and readers.
Love, Janet The Literary Life of Janet S. Kleinman

Busy preparing for Passover. Made lemon macaroons this morning and will make a matzo farfal kugel tomorrrow. Sorry the children won't be here, but we are planning to be with good friends.
Also up to day 8 of my grandson;s blog re his visit to eastern Europe. He leaves Czecheslovakia for Poland and was quite touched by what he saw and heard. He has looked up all the Kleinmans on the memorial plagues he has seen.....none of the names that we know of belong to his father's family. It might be different in Poland. My mother immigrated from the Pale and my father from Brest Litovsk, a city on the Bug River that separated Poland from Russia. Almost all the Jews in that city were killed...
That is in part what motivated.the writing of GOODBYE RUSSIA, HELLO AMERICA...yet unfinished.
A Susse Pasach and a Happy Easter to all of you.

April is almost over and I haven't written to any of you. I apologize! The Passover holidays were the highlight of the month. We were invited to two Seders...one by a relatively new friends who are great, and the second at Carolyn and Charlies's house, dear friends who have moved down to Florida from Riverdale. Prayers, yes, chatter too. The other female guests were also past presidents of the sisterhood of our temple up north, so between the four women we caught up with news of the whole old neighborhood and bemoaned the fact that most of our children and grandchildren lived in far-away places.
Getting to the end of my first draft, a family saga tentatively titled GOODBY RUSSIA, HELLO AMERICA.. I've started line editing some of the earlier chapters. Hope you've read FLIRTING WITH DISASTER, WHEN LOVE AND NATURE COLLIDE.
I'm wish a delightful Spring, although it seems like summer is here.
Fondly,
Janet S. Kleinman

Having a great time with my granddaughter here for spring break. The house feels young again as she and her two friends after a day of swimming, go downtown where the young congregate at Boston's on the Beach.
She's proud of her grandmother and thinks she's old enough to read FLIRTING WITH DISASTER, my romantic thriller that takes place in Haiti. Last year when she was only a high school senior, we were not so sure. She's a beauty and a great tennis player and has traveled to Cambodia alone to join her mother who was teaching dermatology to young medical students.
Oh well, I'm trying to get as much publicity for the book since May is National Haiti Monthy and Florida celebrates with different events for 31 days. Should be time to read a romantic thriller that garnered the aid and sympathy of the world when the earthquake struck. But love and hope turn the book inspirational. I hope you think so, too.
Get in touch, or I'll write again next month.

Hi!
Interviewed by Barry Epstein re. FLIRTING WITH DISASTER. IT CAN BE SEEN ON WPBRiTV.COM in the Archives. Interesting, tho brief. I'm getting better at it, I hope.
Saw THE FULL MONTY last night in a fabulous regional producer. If you are in Boca, etc., go see it. and get a good laugh. Also lots of vocal talent.
Miss all mt friends.

I'm still promoting FLIRTING WITH DISASTER When Love and Nature Collide, a romantic thriller, but am also writing a new novel, GOODBYE RUSSIA, HELLO AMERICA..
This is a family novel about the Sidowitzes who come to American between the two World Wars; adjust to urban life in the city, find work, success, and love, until WWII changes everything.. Does it sound interesting?
Otherwise Florida life is pleasant. We have avoided all the northern snows and icy rains so far this year. For that I am grateful. Have a Happy Valentine's Day.

In December I had the good fortune to appear on local TV (my first 40 minute live interview. Although the station only transmit to Wellington, Palm Beach and north, it was quite an experience for me. The interviewer had already met me when he interviewed me on WPBR-FM radio and had by now read my novel, FLIRTING WITH DISASTER - WHEN LOVE AND NATURE COLLIDE. Many of his listeners are Haitian-Americans and he expected them to love my book.l
I hardly had time to think about it when we went out to Pacific Grove, California to be with our children and grandchildren who live outside of San Francisco. It was refreshing to hike along the beach, go whale watching, watch the otters and dolphin play and play mind-games with adults and children. NO TELEVISIONS at THIS RETREAT, but lots of ping-pong, pool tables, magnificent sunsets, fireplaces and good dining. I can't believe I kept up with the teenagers when we hiked in Point Lobos State Park.
When we got home to Florida, I checked my book's rank on Amazon. It suddenly went from poor to almost good. The radio and TV appearances must have helped.
